Jim Jones grew up watching players like Jerry West dominate with concise, explosive movements, and now looks to help young players achieve success with those same skills.
“I saw Jerry West in person one time and I couldn’t believe how smooth his stops were and explosive his starts (first step) were,” says Jones. “His change of directions were so smooth and explosive that defenders had no idea he was about to attack.”
A college point guard at the University of Nevada, Reno and Cal State Bakersfield, Jones also has extensive coaching experience.
Jones coached between 1986 and 2002 at three high schools in California’s Central Valley: Coalinga, Bullard of Fresno and Central of Fresno.
He later worked as a Skills Coach at Fresno City College, who went 169-11 and won State Championships in 2005 and 2012 under his direction.
He’s also trained the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League, as well as young players like Aaron Gordon, Shabazz Muhammad, and Stephen Zimmerman.
